Zöller & Born Deustchland Lidded Beer Stein
Souvenir stein, probably from the 1990's, as "Made in Germany" is embossed on the bottom.
A map of Germany and the state crests are the focal point of the stein.
Hops and barley in raised relief adorn the sides.
Handarbeit = handmade/hand-painted
Condition: Excellent; no chips or cracks
Interesting tidbit:
The original price sticker is still in place. The price was 49.90, I assume euros.
The stein was purchased in Nürnberg (Nuremberg), at a souvenir shop called "Der Töpferladen".
I found this on their website:
"Der Töpferladen" was founded in Nuremberg in 1865 and has been family-owned ever since. Oven tiles and crockery, which the family made and fired themselves, were the first items that were available in the "pottery shop". From 1900 the pottery was added. The family subsequently opened several branches in Nuremberg, all of which were destroyed during the Second World War. Until 1955, sales took place at market stalls before a shop could be reopened in 1955. This is still in the Heilig-Geist-Spital today. Today's main store directly at the Schönen Brunnen opened its doors in 1959. In 1980 the third shop was added, which is also located on the main market in the IHK building. The family business has been run by Marko Wagner since 1990.
